DEADSOIL Parts Ways With Singer, Bassist; Announces Replacements
November 21, 2008After two full-length releases and countless shows and tours, German metal/hardcore act DEADSOIL has parted ways with singer Friedrich Weber and bassist Andreas Schüssler.
Commented Schüssler: "After due consideration, I came to the conclusion that it would be better for me to leave DEADSOIL. It was in no way an easy decision! Since I joined the band in winter 2005, I can only look back on good times. I met so many awesome people and bands and had tons of fun being a part of the band.
"Me parting ways with DEADSOIL has in no way to do with any bandmember at all; quite the contrary. I feel bad about leaving and disappointing my friends, but we felt the decision together that it would be better for me to stop.
"The main reason for this decision is the huge distance I had to travel to get to the rehearsal room at least twice a month. From my house to the room and back it's a distance of over 400 [kilometers] for two hours of rehearsal... it turned out to be a big finacial burden lately. You know, if you are not 100% down with something anymore you should be honest with yourself and the people involved and pull the consequences."
According to DEADSOIL, Friedrich Weber left the band "due to personal and health reasons." Weber reportedly suffered a permanent injury to his vocal cords at one of his last shows with the group in Slovenia which is now causing him to experience pain while singing.
The vocal duties in DEADSOIL are now being handled by Florian Velten, former singer of MACHINEMADE GOD and the new man behind the four strings is Jogi Neumann, former bassist of IMPURE and CLOBBERIN TIME.
Commented the band: "It's a good feeling to rehearse as a five-piece band again and Jogi adds a total new feeling to the songs and Flo is already busy tracking his vocals on the new songs and it sounds brutal as fuck! So it seems that the new album will be finished very soon!
"We wish Friedi and Andy all the best for their future and we hope you welcome both new members as good as we did! We can't wait to hit the stage again with the new lineup!"
DEADSOIL's latest album, "Sacrifice", was released in May 2006 via Lifeforce Records. The follow-up to 2004's "The Venom Divine" was recorded in January 2006 at Principal Studios (CALIBAN, WATERDOWN) in Senden by Vincent Sorg, was mixed by KATAKLYSM's Jean-Francois Dagenais and was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music.
